The Bets: Saturday 1/14/23
Last I wrote a “The Bets” blog I mentioned having that Georgia Future and holy hell did that National Championship game feel good.
The epic blow up by TCU was delightful, and now it’s time to turn to the big boy post season…
NFL playoffs
Now, this weekend kind of sucks. In my opinion, 5 of the 6 games are very obvious who is going to win, but the games themselves are going to be great for the spread.
After going 2-1 last week, and hitting that +3.08 unit future win, the blogs total is now…
+2.64 Units (+5.15 Units Lifetime)
I’m fucking pumped for the NFL playoffs, so this blog will just be focused on that.
I am on vacation, so today and tomorrows blogs will be vanilla. I’m sure I will be betting more on my Action Network mobile page!
Seattle @ San Francisco 3:30 pm CST
(49ers -9.5, O/U 42)
This should be Detroit… Seattle does not deserve this.
It is a great story for the Seahawks don’t get me wrong. They were projected to be a bottom 5 team after trading away Wilson, but making the playoffs after that major breakup is impressive.
With how bad Denver was and Seattle getting their pick, this team is looking like it will become a wagon in 2-4 years
But god damn the niners are going to absolutely dominate.
This is my Super Bowl team. Chalky pick I know but with how weak the NFC is they are going to cake walk through the NFC Championship to see Buffalo/Kansas City/Cincinnati in the Super Bowl.
I understand San Fran had beaten Seattle twice already this year, but the saying “it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a season” is just so stupid.
Teams are 28-16 going for the 3 game sweep. Maybe it’s because the winning team is just better on the field and in the coaches box?
Brock Purdy isn’t Purdy on the eyes, but he does what his Coach needs him to do. Niners roll and win by 14+
San Francisco -9.5 (-110)
Risk 1 Unit to win 0.91
Los Angeles (Chargers) @ Jacksonville 7:15 pm CST
(Chargers -2.5, O/U 47.5)
This is the most exciting game of the weekend. It’s going to be real nice seeing these two teams in the playoffs, and the fact that one of them will be in the divisional round is insane.
This is the one game that doesn’t have a clear winner. Both teams have quarterbacks making debuts in the playoffs, which shocks me because everyone sucks Justin Herbert off I thought he must have won at least one post season game.
The fact that Jacksonville is playing back to back primetime games is absolutely electric too. This is a total 180 from the Blake Bortles Jaguars teams (who were much better than this team)
If I HAD to pick a winner, it would be Jacksonville, just because of their defense, but I do not trust Trevor Lawrence.
What IS the bet to make here is the total. With both teams making their debuts in the playoffs after extended droughts, I’m expecting them to constantly have stalled drives at mid field.
A lot of field goals, some punts, and A SHIT TON of Brandon Staley going for it on 4th and 4 in field goal range and not getting the first down.
Take the under, but enjoy the electric game.
Los Angeles/Jacksonville Under 47.5 (-110)
Risk 1 Unit to win 0.91
Zabe’s Futures
In this section, I will keep track of any futures that I will be placing for The Blog.
December 11, 2022: CASHED
Georgia to win the NCAAF Championship (-130)
Risk 4 Units to win 3.08
If you have been following along on my Saturday “The Bets” blogs, you will know my opinion on this Georgia team and the other three teams in this playoff. Georgia is just SO much better.
Remember Bama in their hay day? Yeah, that is this team and we are STILL getting decent odds because people don’t want to accept that the playoff system is still non-competitive.
Now, this play DOES count for the blog. If it hits, it will go toward The Blog’s total. If it misses, the -4 will still go towards The Blog’s total.
