The Takes: Preview and Picks for the 2023 College Football National Championship
Here it is… The Grand Finale of one hell of a College Football season.
I’m fucking pumped for this game, and not only because I have one fat future on the Bulldogs to win the Natty. I won’t be writing a “The Bets” blog for this game, but I have to write a preview, it’s the fucking Natty.
TCU Horned Frogs
This has to be the largest cinderella story that College Football has seen in a while. 2014 when UCF went undefeated was fun, but there was no playoff or BCS Bowl for that team, so there was nothing to really stay for.
But this team… is like magic. Having 200/1 odds of winning the national championship before the season started is insane. Most significant publications predicted them to be outside of the top 5 in their own conference.
On top of all of that, this team is actually good. It’s clearly not a fluke since they were able to dominate Michigan on New Year’s Eve.
The most impressive part of that game is that I didn’t even see much celebrating after the victory. Like, I get being the tough guy “Jobs not done” attitude, but Jesus Christ you just pulled the largest upset in CFP history and there are guys walking around just saying “one more”
THAT’S the part that scares me the most about this game. Clearly, I will be rooting for the Bulldogs, but fuck this team is special.
Georgia Bulldogs
I’ve been saying this in nearly every blog that I mention Georgia in. They are the new standard.
Georgia is the new Bama. Kirby is the new Saban (Even though I know that dude isn’t done yet winning the big one)
Back when Bama would be favorites to win the National Championship after just winning one the previous year is what this Georgia team is.
You don’t make money betting against them… or do you?
This team always seems to find a way to win games. Always. But why the fuck do they play everyone so closely? Missouri had a 4th quarter lead on them for fucks sake
This Georgia team is just 7-6 against the spread this year. From a gambling perspective, not jaw-dropping amazing. It could be a concern that they get let TCU get a lead, and think it’s going to be fine since they will just come back, but then never do.
For the Gamblers
As I said, with the 4 unit Georgia ticket I have, I won’t be making any official picks.
However, 13.5 is just insane to me. Why is that number so high? Why are the sharps on the Bulldogs here, too?
People are thinking Georgia walks out with a 2 TD win… I only see that with TCU down 8 late and trying some of that throw-the-ball-around bullshit that ends up letting Georgia get a meaningless TD as time expires.
Also… The total of 62.5 looks fucking TASTY
If I was going to, the over is the bet to make.
