The Takes: Saquon to the Eagles Will Never Work
Let’s get this first part out of the way…. I’m back.
Now to the good part; Saquon is leaving New York to go to lovely Philly.
I’m not going to go on a tirade and start saying that Saquon is “dead to” the Giants, or that he is a terrible guy for doing this deal, it’s quite the opposite.
Saquon FLEECED the Eagles. What the fuck were they thinking? What reasonable NFL franchise in the year of our lord 2024 goes out and signs a running back for a massive amount of money? Especially considering the amount of tread those tires have and the injury history. It’s downright disgusting.
This contract makes Saquon the fourth-highest-paid running back in the league. Saquon has finished top 4 in rushing only ONCE since his 2018 rookie season. While every other year, he has finished outside the TOP 15. These are just facts.
I have a question for you Eagles fans that may be living in some sort of delusion like this guy here… Out of your 7 losses, which one of them did you think “Awh man, we were just one good running back away from winning”? Was it the 17 point loss to the Giants? Or the 20 point loss to your big brother, Dallas? Maybe the 23 point loss to San Fran? Or! Maybe the 23 point playoff loss to Tampa? Saquon def changes that game, right??
You know what else this reminds me of? Spring of 2015. DeMarco Murray, Rushing Leader of the NFL and Free Agent coming off of a great year with the Dallas Cowboys. Who comes and scoops him up? Philly.
Who signs him to a five year deal? Philly.
Who has to cut him after a year because they realized it’s a terrible idea to sign a running back to big money? Philly.
Never pay a running back. Period. It makes no sense. Dallas on the other hand, they are doing it right. Let the haters hate, Jerry.
Let Saquon go.
Let Henry go.
Let Pollard go.
Let Eckler go.
Let Mixon go.
Let Swift go.
Let Jacobs go.
Let Aaron Jones go.
You’ll scoop up that stud Trey Benson in the draft. Or Jonathon Brooks, Will Shipley, hell even Bucky Irving we like short kings!
